The biggest end of year celebration at most universities in the UK is the summer ball. Like a prom it is a strictly formal event but instead of a big room where everyone just dances its more like a massive festival. Lasting from 7pm to 6am the next day (with a free breakfast if you survive till the end), my uni had a two music stages, one main and one acoustic tent, fairground rides, several bars, a casino and multiple food vans. It is commonly known as the event you have to go to at least once before you graduate and many student go in their 1st and final years of uni ( which is exactly what I did). Check out this video my uni did of a previous summer ball
As well as getting to see music acts, upcoming and all known and dance, for finalists, its also one of the last times that we get party with our friends and celebrate coming to the end of university together. I had the best time at Summer Ball this year and it was so good to see all of my friends and people I have met over this past year all in one place and enjoying the night together.
The weeks upcoming to the ball were stressful bc I could not find a dress ANYWHERE, the dress I ended up wearing I bought a week before and it arrived two days before, talk about cutting it close! But Chi Chi London saved me and I am in love with the dress I chose.
I went for an elegant look rather than something show stopping and I think the asymmetrical length of the dress helped make the dress a comfortable length that I wouldn’t trip over but stills seem like a long formal dress. I curled my hair and plaited half up secured with little purple and pearl flowers to match my dress. I must admit it took me a while to get ready but I was happy with the results. Most of all my friends and I looked great for the night and I loved every second of it.
